now, where was I?

I'm beyond apologies, I know I should be updating this more. As Nathaniel becomes more and more active (read: naps less and less and goes to bed MUCH later than he used to) I find my personal time diminishing. I also find myself running around with him, playing games, reading books, so on and so forth, and forgetting to bring the trusty camera around. So, those are my excuses, take them or leave them.

I did get some great pictures of Nathaniel and his friends from the neighborhood the other day playing with the wagon that I used to ride in when I was a kid. This picture means so much to me. Not only is it a memory for Nathaniel of who he used to play with when he was just a toddler but it's also a vivid reminder of why we moved to this neighborhood: friendships. The part that you can't see, the off camera part, is where my friend and I are drinking wine, eating cheese and crackers, chatting it up (dutifully watching the little ones play, of course). Getting to enjoy ourselves, relax and know that our children are safe and happy. This is what good neighborhoods are about.

So, we are up to our ears in home projects...I suppose that's what being a homeowner is REALLY about :) We finally got the vegetable bed going downstairs, along with some vines out front, set up the sweetest bird bath that we 'borrowed' from my grandparents. Of course, it would be fun to have some pictures of all that but it's almost 10pm and my camera's flash just wouldn't do it justice. We'll see what I can do tomorrow.

oh, this is so lovely. i think i may need to impose and see if sen and i can come visit. i'm craving neighborhood/community (we love our townhouse inside, but it's not the most connected of places outside) -- and also ability to WALK to library, farmer's market, stuff like that. i'd love to see your 'hood and home.
