more beach- oh my!

Like I said yesterday, it was a weekend of loveliness.  Almost forgot some of my favorite shots from the beach on Saturday...we went twice this weekend :)

Oh, did I mention the new camera phone?  Yep, I've joined the 21st century and finally have a camera on my phone.  Clearly overdid it on the 'fancy' exposures this weekend...but it is SO nice to finally have a way to take pictures without having to remember my camera!

 Above: Floating stairs!  Magic!
Above: photo taken by Logan- I love that it's totally kid-focused (ie only the heads of his two favorite people are showing)
Above: Nate took this one, kind of obvious because 1) he's missing from the photo and 2) the look Logan is giving the camera :)

weekending

What a wonderful weekend this was.  It began at a mini-marriage retreat with Jed, full of inspirational speakers, useful tidbits to help us communicate better and, most importantly, giving us a time to connect with other couples sans kids.  So very worth it.  And that was just the beginning...

Day two of our weekend was spent at the beach (again!  What a week for the beach!)  This time we went down to La Jolla to check out the seals.  Beautiful day to just hang as a family.  The seals were out in force- with so very many tiny nursing seal pups.  Absolutely adorable.
My afternoon was spent buying (more!) seeds from my favorite website and filling my head with visions of gardens to be.

A lovely, lovely weekend to be sure.

this weekend

A low tide, a warm day, a perfect time for tidepooling.

a day of rest

Sometimes our bodies cry out for action.  To move, to dig, to dance.  And other times, we are given a clear message to rest.  To sit around.  To keep slippers on your feet all day.  Nate and I were lucky enough to get colds on exactly the same day this weekend.  We bulldozed through it on Sunday but by Monday we were wiped out.  With tears in his eyes he looked at me before sleep on Sunday (oh how fitful that sleep was!) and asked, "Can we just stay home tomorrow mama?"  Of course, sweet boy, of course we can just stay home.  We get breaks like this so rarely it seems.  It is too bad that it took illness to get us to laze around, to fully enjoy just each other's company.
To get to have biscuits and jam for lunch, just because.  So we stayed home we played game after game, we pulled a couple weeds (I can only sit around for so long, it seems), we drank countless cups of 'Throat Coat' tea, read book after book, and even watched a show or two on the computer.  A true blue day of rest.

christmas morning

Am I only just now getting to pictures of Christmas morning?  My goodness did we all have such a great time.  These are just a few of the pictures...I'm sure I'll find more to share tomorrow.

happiest of birthdays

Today is my dear husband's birthday.   This man puts up with a lot from me.  And yet he is constantly there for me.  He is everything I need, yet it seems to always takes me until the final moments to realize that.  I am so happy to be celebrating his 40th(!) birthday with him.
