Visiting Catalina

This after fourth of July weekend, a whole bunch of us came together in Two Harbors, Catalina Island, for some fun in the sun. My mom has spent the last month over there, living on the boat and stocking up the gift shop in the General Store, missing Nathaniel oh-so-much. Jess, Matt, Jed, Nathaniel and I made our way up to Dana Point early Friday morning to begin our fun. During our stay, I actually managed to get up on a single water ski (mom power!) for about 3 minutes, after which I declared I would do nothing more strenuous than walk ashore. Nathaniel got the obligatory boat bath again and had some fun hanging out on the shore in the teeny waves that crash there. I finally got some pictures of my beautifully pregnant sis, only one more month until we get to meet the fabulous Logan!

It was truly a great weekend, though surreal in it's difference to trips past. I'm still getting over being the parent in Catalina, rather than the kid as that's what I've been the past 28 years. It's funny to see that I don't leave the boat after 5pm to go ashore anymore, we've reverted back to spending afternoons on the beach, rather than out underwater diving, and I've rediscovered the ability to while away hours reading. It's different coming to a childhood place, where everyone remembers you as such, and introducing your own child to them. I suppose that's part of what it's all about, generations rotating, shifting and beginning again. Someday I'm sure Nathaniel will be remarking on the same thing...

In the meantime, click on a picture below to view a slideshow of some of the moments of our trip. I'll be updating the pics for awhile as new ones come in from different cameras so be sure to check it out again in a week or so!
