my mom job

So, I'm part of a great online community down here in San Diego and one of the mamas posted a llnk to Similac's website. For those of you not in the know, Similac is a GIANT formula company, who sent me 3 full size containers of formula right before Nathaniel was born to "support" me in breastfeeding. How supplementing my baby with chemicals rather than just feeding him straight from my breast could actually help our breastfeeding relationship is something I don't think I'll ever understand...but that's beside the point of this post.

What I wanted to say is that she linked us to Similac's website to take part in a contest they were having. For the contest, they asked you to send in a picture of you doing a "mom job," along with a 50 word caption explaining what your job is. They will be judging these pictures and captions and "paying" the most creative mom $135,000 for a "job well done." Well, some mama's with a good sense of humor decided to send in some pictures of them doing their most important job- feeding baby. Of course, they're breastfeeding...not feeding them from a bottle. Well, I couldn't just sit on the sidelines and watch them have all the fun, I decided to enter as well (heck, I could use $135K!).

So...this is the picture I chose, along with a caption stating that I am "growing a boy with that which gives him the most nutrition and love" (or something along those lines). I think this may be one of my all time favorite pictures of Nate- I love that he's just looking the camera in the eye, seemingly saying, "That's right, this is how I eat. You got a problem with that?" Or maybe that's just his rabble-rousing mom projecting her own thoughts :)
