So, my little sister, jessica, has been pregnant for what seems like forever and a day. Of course, in real time that has translated to 38 weeks on Monday. For those of us related to her, it feels like double that. Like me, she was lucky in pregnancy, she felt good for the most part, was able to get around, move around and stay fit and healthy and, most importantly to me, she has continued to be able to carry and entertain Nathaniel like a pro. She and her friends all ended up pregnant around the same time and the first one popped yesterday, jess is next. Now that the first one has gone and everything went well, it's just a matter of weeks, days, hours??? until baby logan joins his new family.
It's funny, before Nathaniel was born, I was never really so into babies. As a teacher of little people, their siblings were often around, in arms or in slings, so I had lots of exposure. But, I have to say, before I got to spend all this time with Nathaniel, babies were interesting but not THAT interesting. Now, I could probably spend all day and most of this year talking about babies, cooing over baby pictures, smelling sweet baby breath and analyzing the contents of a stinky diaper. I know that babies "change your life" but I guess you'll never know exactly in what way until you have one yourself.
I've decided to share the most recent picture I have of the Hunter family as I think it best shows my proud mama sister in all her pregnant glory. I know I am so very excited for her to be able to experience the amazingly transformative power of birth and can't wait to welcome Logan into our family. Wishing her strength, love, patience and grace for the times ahead. She's going to make an amazing mother.
