Like Peanut Butter and Jelly

This Saturday Jed had to work and I decided that I wanted to stay up here rather than take the train, do something in the hot sun in the city and drive home. I also wanted an excuse to just hang out- no agenda style- with my sister before her life is forever changed by the addition of baby Logan. It was also the first Saturday that he worked that I felt that I had lost my own day off. You see, Nathaniel is incredibly in love with Jed these days (of course, who wouldn't be?) and his dad's presence is sorely missed. We both woke up a little grumpier yesterday morning to the realization that Jed wasn't there with us. This whole "parenting is a job" thing is really beginning to sink in. Nathaniel is such an interactive and inquisitive kid these days, I find I truly have a hard time keeping up! Thankfully, Jess came over to help wrestle Nate around but it was pure heaven (for all of us) when Jed pulled up and swung the little guy in the air. Jess and I were able to get in some awesome body surfing and Jed was able to catch up with some baby time.

Today, though, I became distinctly aware that I am no longer A#1 in Nathaniel's list of top people. That spot is now something I am so pleased and happy to share with my favorite partner of all time. Nathaniel was literally following Jed around all day today, with both his eyes and his skooching around the house on the belly. This picture was taken in the early evening, before dinner, when the boys were checking the surf and car-watching. As you can see, I'm not forgotten...I'm just so glad it's someone else's head Nate's squeezing that hard. As the title suggests, those two are like peanut butter and jelly- oh so yummy together!
