Our latest daytrip was to Mission Trails Regional Park...somewhere near Santee(?). It was exctiting for Jed to get off the coast as it turns out we had never been east of the 5 since we moved down here! It was a great reminder that life is not all track homes and concrete- there are actually shrubs and open space out there as well. We were told the park is the largest regional park in the US (larger even than Central Park). It was the perfect weekend to go- slightly cool for a nice walk around, a beautiful (empty!) interpretive center with cushy seats to feed Nate in, and a band to greet us at the end of the hike with a bluegrass concert. If only every hike was so posh!

It looks like you had a wonderful time. The fruit looks like wild cucumber to me, though I couldn't see the whole plant.
