dad's night out

Jed and Nathaniel have a standing date every Tuesday. I get to go to yoga and they get to try new restaurants, visit playgrounds and do various 'boy things' that I just wouldn't understand. I can always tell how much Nathaniel enjoys his dad time as he inevitably comes home one of two ways: with a big grin on his face or fast asleep. About a month ago (this took way too long for me to upload) Jed came home with evidence of one of the many fun activities they've sampled: photo booth. You can tell that Nathaniel is clearly unsure about the whole thing.



On the home front, we've been battling a MAJOR ant problem. What started out as just a few ants has fast turned into the ants taking over our home. I seriously expect to come home one day and find a slab of foundation where my house once stood as the ants have finally claimed it as their own and walked off with it. The part that is both mystifying and infuriating is that the two rooms they've taken over are our bedrooms- Nate's and Jed/mine. I mean, there's not even food or water in there! Do they just love our comfy beds? This, of course, means that the three of us have been sleeping in the guest bedroom the past 2 nights. The ants have definitely won this skirmish. But it's not our last. Their numbers are fast dwindling, I threw some poison bait stakes down in the crawl space this morning and I think it's helping. We'll know for sure in the morning. Nate thinks it's fascinating to lie on his stomach and watch them crawl around the baseboards.

I must be off to bed...these ants (and a toddler) take a lot out of me. Hope to post pictures of our trip to Catalina soon. My goal is always within the month the picture was taken...we'll see :)
