Last weekend (I can't believe it took me this long to write about it!) I was so lucky to be able to host my baby sister's baby shower. She had found this great little tea house up in San Juan Capstrano that has the world's best currant scones. The train set its schedule by our tea time so that we were able to (just barely) hop on the train at Oceanside, drink some sparkling apple cider with some nibbles, make it to our tea time and then hop back on the train to take us home. My sister is just so beautifully pregnant these days...if Nathaniel wasn't so very precious, it might make me want to be pregnant again (notice I said might!). This was her "family" shower, with most of the ladies in the family coming together to wish her well. Everyone pitched in to
create a square in a quilt I made: An Ocean Alphabet. I assigned letters and it was each person's job to draw a picture of an ocean animal/person that matched that letter...they also had the difficult task of making sure they got the square to me a week before the shower so that I could put them all together into a baby blanket. Needless to say, everyone completed their task so wonderfully and we were able to suprise Jess with a token of our love and efforts. I have to say, though, my favorite part of the shower was when everyone donned a funny hat and we got to take the picture you see above. Even Nate pitched in for the festivities. Now, I haven't been to many baby showers but I have to say, this one was darned fun.
I'm just so excited for my sister and husband and soon-to-be-here baby Logan (oops, did I spill the beans with his name?!) I love that just when Nate's going to start turning into a mover and shaker, we'll have a brand new baby in our midst. Yippee!
